Subject: ROSE convention question

Hi,

The Independent Airship Nimbus crew is planning to invade from Kansas again,
and we were thinking of having a room party. Is that permitted? Any
limitations? What we were thinking was something pretty low-key but we
don't want to step on any toes.

I think one of our scientists might be bringing his robot also. Even if it's
not finished should he still submit it?

Thank you,
Lisi Chance
(Rosalind Meade, Quartermaster, Independent Airship Nimbus)

Hi Lisi !!!

1. Yes... ROOM PARTIES are allowed.
2. How many are part of the Airship Nimbus, if you advertise to everyone,
we might be able to make you an affiliate (discount).
3. Have everyone make room reservations... the hotel is filling up fast.
Even if they can't come, they can cancel, but at least they have a room.
4. Would love a submission, even if it's not done. It's all in fun and
talking about what its supposed to do would be a hoot.

Yeah !!! I'm excited that you all are planning on attending.

So- ROOM PARTY!!! I can get rid of more of the vodka we had left over from the last one! I'm thinking this time of mixing different colored things in flasks as "mad scientist potions". Any ideas where we can get dry ice? And flasks? I've got some glass test tubes but plastic might be a wiser choice. I think the room James and I booked would work for a room party. And... other decorations and stuff? Music suggestions and requests? I'll actually take some time and see about putting an interesting mix together this time.

And Hans, even if you decide to ride your motorcycle, can we bring Cog along?

Has anyone else read about the Bazaar? I'm thinking of bringing some of my goodies along to try and sell for that. If anyone else has stuff they'd like to sell, I'm willing to babysit the table/whatever for the duration.

weather, health and other stuff taken into consideration, do we want to work this sunday?

i'm willing to give it a go, but we'll need to get started and get done well before nightfall.  unless this keeps pissing over till tomorrow, than i think with where we're at its going to be a wash.  mostly because i don't think there's any way we can convince hans to get under the bus in the snow and wet.

...that is, Obscura Day, to wit, March 20th, I propose we take an expedition to the Kansas Historical Society in Topeka. A fascinating museum, and a photo opportunity. What say you all?

Well, the seats are *all* out, the vinyl has been pulled out, and about 1/3 of the carpet is removed. The brake lights and turn signals are now all working.

The floor is not as rotten as anticipated; only about the rear 1/2 will need to be replaced. Unfortunately, a good bit of the understructure is missing, and will need to be rebuilt, and the rear wheel wells are a total loss. We're hoping to use galvanized basement window wells to replace them; anyone know a local place we can get them? Lowe's and Home Depot don't show any on their Web sites. (Alternatively, we could go to Metal By The Foot in KC, but we'll need to get individual pieces and build some kind of structure to hold 'em together that way.)

how many are going on april and who wants to ride on the times?  also need to know who's going to help work on the times, and who isn't we got a line on the floorboarding, still need the plywood, and may have a solution for the window, aside from that, happy halmark makes money day.

we'll be working once again on the times,  there's tons to do and a short time to do it in.  if you don't think there's work there for you to do, your wrong.  we need help, there's sewing projects,  manual labor,  woodworking and electrical work.  even acting as support makes a difference for us to get the times back up and running for the events we're going to need her for... if your available please come by the house around 10 to 11 on sunday and we'll get started! early morning means it'll be cold outside, but it wont be as freezing as it will be at night.

April 9, 10, 11

There are still a few spots left at the "early bird" price of $30 per ticket.

James and I got ours tonight. Working on booking a room next.

On the Vendors tab, they also mention that they'll be having a Bazaar where people can sell stuff for a couple hours- which sounded kinda fun, too.

On Sunday, Hans and I were bouncing around ideas for a room party, since we have a bunch of cheap vodka to get rid of still. And we all have fun ideas for them...

hans duane and I pulled about half the seats and all the luggage storage on sunday, lisi has pics that she's going to post somewhere.  thats the good news. the bad news, our timetable for repair has been pushed up to march, i'm not sure what weekend at this point, and the floor is about shot, we can fix the floor, i'm positive we can get it fixed by march, and we can get the window done, however we're going to need plywood to do the job, and i don't have any money at this point, if anybody knows anybody who's got some plywood their willing to donate, or if folks want to put a little cash into it, I know we can get the work done quickly.  oh yea, and the tire well is toast, duane's got an idea to fix that and i think it'll work.  what we need now, is people to throw time into it, just about every weekend from here on in, whether lisi and I are there or not.  the seats have got to get pulled and the floor has got to get ripped out and replaced. we're probably going to need new carpet in there also, but rolls of that are pretty cheap at home depot.  the big deal really is we need people to work on the projects, and get it put back together in about 4 weeks.  this can be done, they do it on pimp my ride all the time. i'm certain that we're at least as smart as those guys.

now that things are calming down around here a bit, i'm going to be working on the bus this weekend, planning on pulling the chrome and the seats, we'll need wood, i think we may have some we can use laying around the house, as for a futon, check freecycle and see if somebody has one they just want to be rid of. if not there, we can advertise in craigslist and see if somebody wants to dump one in trade, or for ubarcheap. seeing as how i can't afford diddly/squat right now.
